Hips or Low Back?

Shannon works full time as a case manager at an alternative school, and she's the barn manager for Lone Oak, our partner barn. Shannon works hard all day, every day helping people. Lately, she's been dealing with CHRONIC PAIN in her low back and right hip.

We did some Functional Range Assessments and found that she had very poor control of her spine segments, particularly in the lumbar spine. The restriction had knock-on effects in the pelvis and hip.

Special as Shannon is, her issue is not.  Some feel it in the back. Some in the hip. Some feel it in BOTH places. This is issue is LUMBO-PELVIC PAIN. The sacrum articulates on the pelvis, the pelvis is half the hip joint. RESTRICTION in one place quickly leads to RESTRICTION AND PAIN in another.

After some manual work, we began coaching Shannon to TRAIN for more spinal segmentation, and more rotation in her hips. She's pleased with the outcome thus far. And she's working hard to help herself so she can keep helping others.
