Signal vs. Noise

Every day, we’re bombarded with MORE information, but not all of it is useful. Cognitive science calls this the "Signal to Noise Ratio."

SIGNAL is the useful info.
NOISE is the irrelevant stuff.

When you experience shoulder pain, the noise might tell you to focus on things like scapular winging, thoracic rotation, or pull-up form. But focusing on the SIGNAL is simpler: assess THE JOINT itself.

How well can your shoulder move? Where’s it restricted? Does your tissue limit motion or force absorption? These are the SPECIFIC and OBJECTIVE MEASUREMENTS of the Functional Range Assessment (FRA) we use in our consults, clinic, and coaching.

If you have pain or limited range when you INTERNALLY ROTATE your shoulder, you don’t train pull-ups or presses— you train INTERNAL ROTATION. Address restriction, gain strength in that range, and everything improves.

Maximize SIGNAL, Minimize NOISE.
Know what you need.
Train to get it. Then live.
